Idle hours

Night falls
And the door of
Loneliness
Opens once more
Wandering thoughts
Leading deeper
Endless hours
Pass by idle
Tears born of
Frustration
Wanting so much
To believe
While truths falsities
Ebb and flow
Raging as the sea
To shed tears of happiness
Heart swollen with joy
From the gift of truth
Another should bestow
But what illusions spring
From a bounty of words
While reading the pages
Of one’s very soul
A beacon in the darkness
Wrapping round [...]

Subtle Slips

I feel him pulling
Moving away
Gently he slips
In directions
Opposite me
Testing his wings
Determined and courageous
The look in his eyes
Reveals fear of
Full flight
No longer
My little boy
Always my baby
No matter how
Far from me
The universe
Takes him
Of typical concern
My own human flaws
Hoping my guidance
Has properly prepared him

Mad world

She made the mistake of reading the list of Top Ten News Headlines. Reminded, yet again, of the insanity that surrounds us; the human beasts we are forced to co-exist with. A truth that at times, is almost too much to bear.

Dear Pearl,

I was that girl of the water, of which you spoke; though it wasn’t until later in life that I learned how to actually flow. Much of my youth was spent swimming and fighting against the raging tide. I still bear scars from being thrashed to the bottom by the undercurrent; battle scars of lessons [...]

In dreams

I came upon him in the woods; sitting on a bench nestled among a patch of wild ferns growing along the trail; dapples of sunlight playing on his face. I could tell, even behind sunglasses that his eyes were closed in quiet contemplation. Perhaps it was the tilt of his head or the relaxed posture [...]

BFF

I missed her birthday; first time in thirty-seven years. I wonder if she can forgive me. I wonder if she would understand if I were to tell her that while I thought of her, I simply hadn’t the will to get out of bed, go out into the world, into the store and read through [...]

Read – think – absorb

Look, it cannot be seen – it is beyond form.
Listen, it cannot be heard – it is beyond sound.
Grasp, it cannot be held – it is intangible.
These three are indefinable;
Therefore they are joined in one.
From above it is not bright;
From below it is not dark:
An unbroken thread beyond description.
It returns to nothingness.
The form of the [...]

Alsyna

She appeared out of nowhere at the stroke of midnight, as if having emerged from within the lake; a mirage of convenience, claiming to possess the key to get me back into the kingdom. Clearly taken aback at my hesitation, she promised to lead the entire way; guiding and navigating, until I found my self [...]
