Idle hours

Night falls
And the door of
Loneliness
Opens once more
Wandering thoughts
Leading deeper
Endless hours
Pass by idle
Tears born of
Frustration
Wanting so much
To believe
While truths falsities
Ebb and flow
Raging as the sea
To shed tears of happiness
Heart swollen with joy
From the gift of truth
Another should bestow
But what illusions spring
From a bounty of words
While reading the pages
Of one’s very soul
A beacon in the darkness
Wrapping round [...]

Gripping numbness

I remember those winters well; when the world turns a negative shade of grey, the suns vibrance diminishes to a bright, blinding white and the cold wraps around and holds you hostage. Seemingly surrounded by death at best; as depression settles deep within the confines of my soul; futile attempts, searching for a way out; [...]

Beseech

Wicked wind howls an ethereal lonesome moan
Branches sway wildly under stress a tremored groan
River rises white caps lash violently toward the shore
Rain slashes monstrous claws upon her battered door
Cowering in the corner lights flicker silent fear
Trapped within confinement those walls do draw so near
Every move and thought un-spoke from afar observed
Unseen eyes do constant watch [...]

The power of words

Her mind overflowed with thoughts of him, as she woke to face another day; fragments from dreams, carried into consciousness; longing so intense it made her weep. Moments of certainty, clarity and light, clutched at her heart like a constricting vice; then shadowed suddenly, as cruel words came back to haunt her; the end relived, [...]

Longing

O northeasterly wind, when whilst thou blow

fade to black

Darkness falls and for a moment all is calm; waves lap gently upon the shore as silence settles over a tranquil sea. The same moon, the same stars, viewed as one, but from afar; she raises her face to the night, slips quietly away inside her mind. Into those arms she dreamed of and yearned [...]

within without

He stood in the doorway, taking in the scene before him; a haunting melody seemingly echoed from nowhere, as the candles cast flickering shadows upon the walls; black tapers in polished brass holders; always black and brass. The smell of incense filling his senses, yet he could not tell from which direction it burned; swirls [...]

Imagine…

Closing your eyes
Flying away
Without a thought or care
Embracing the truth
Releasing all pain
No penalty
No price
To pay –

Alive after dying

Searing heat rising
Consuming from within
Soul awash in flame
Emanating screams of crucifying pain
Tears of despair
Like a river doeth flow
Uninvited intrusion
Like razorblades upon tenderized flesh
Wake to dark silence
No solace no joy
Grasp at dreams fragments
Fleetingly bask in surreal calm
Acting with no reaction
No more have a nice day
Nothing left to lack integrity
Truth that could no longer be denied
Emotionlessly adrift
Perceptions [...]
