Shadows in Glass

He fought cancer all alone and won the battle, at the tender age of twenty-one. He never knew who his real father was, and refused to bond with the string of husbands he watched his mother marry and divorce. He did a five year stint in Leavenworth Penitentiary, for a crime that he swears he [...]

For Jone

Warrior Woman
May the stars carry away your fear and sadness
Hold on to what is good
May the promise of spring fill your heart with beauty
Hold on to what you believe
May hope forever wash away your tears and pain
Hold on to what you must do
May your stillness in this silence make you strong
Hold on to life
Hold on [...]

Awakenings

We were at the Renaissance festival in Washington Gardens; a beautiful southern park which sits along the banks of the Intracoastal Waterway. A place where you could lay your blanket and picnic under the canopy of ancient oaks, as pods of dolphins breech the surface and play in the blue green waters just a few [...]

Idle hours

Night falls
And the door of
Loneliness
Opens once more
Wandering thoughts
Leading deeper
Endless hours
Pass by idle
Tears born of
Frustration
Wanting so much
To believe
While truths falsities
Ebb and flow
Raging as the sea

While reading the pages
Of one’s very soul
A beacon in the darkness
Wrapping round [...]

Subtle Slips

I feel him pulling
Moving away
Gently he slips
In directions
Opposite me
Testing his wings
Determined and courageous
The look in his eyes
Reveals fear of
Full flight
No longer
My little boy
Always my baby
No matter how
Far from me
The universe
Takes him
Of typical concern
My own human flaws
Hoping my guidance
Has properly prepared him

What was I thinking?

It was the day I had anticipated, even before the surgery; the day I would come out of my cast and take my life back. Having spent two weeks locked within the confines of my own walls, seeing the outside world through limited squares of glass; the same view each day, changing significantly given the [...]

In this silence

Too many used to be’s
Faded away with
Time
Not enough now’s
To sustain us
Into tomorrow

Depiction

There comes a certain “feel,” no matter where you happen to be, whenever his thoughts turn in your direction.
It starts at the basic level of the flesh; like the cool breeze on a crisp autumn night; tantalizing and chilling all at once.
Your blood pressure rises, heart rate increases, as he sends invisible waves of desire, [...]
