Manifesting

3 June 2010

Traveling by flight
Alone in a dream
High above the clouds
Far from the sea

To a field she came to land
As the breath of a breeze
Mist-shrouded forest surrounds
Obscuring the castle keep

Sensing his energy
Vibrating at low frequency
Underestimating his needs
Born of pure wondering

Searching for truth
The whole of his life
Waiting for the answer
And the question is why

His alter of strength
Change flows with the seasons
Born of past experiences
Ancestral history

Swiftly she moves
To capture a glimpse
Toward the tempered glass
Outstretches her hand

An enchanted moment
Etched now in her memory
As he slumbers on worn leather
Wrapped in his loneliness

Inner Realms

30 March 2010

It’s that fleeting moment when you hang in the balance; no longer awake, not fully asleep. Where reality and fantasy enmesh and become one; and you know with clear certainty, in the deepest most secret recesses of your soul that what you thought was only a dream, was actually your truth…

At the Vernal

20 March 2010

I come in celebration
Of the dawning of
Spring

As the time of
New growth
Is upon us

May the immobility
Of winter’s
Chilling grasp

Release us
From its bonds

As our spirits
And hearts
Find renewed
Inspiration

In the warmth
Of the light half
Of this year

Escape

11 January 2010

Forced to acknowledge
Her earthbound
Vessel

The inner-workings
The stretch of its
Limits

The one within
She’s traveled
The whole of
This life

The receiver of
Its cause
She’s always been

Unspeakable pleasure
Unbearable pain
Forgivable sin

Linked now
With a manmade machine

Round the clock
Tic-tock
Tic-tock

Casts her circle
Recounts blessings
Patiently waits
For night to fall

Closes her eyes
Empties her mind
Effortlessly slips
To that place of
No time

Where souls do swirl
In their beguiling ethereal
Dance

Abysmal realm
Released from earthly bonds
Where all are welcome
Escapism is free

From this material world

Where nothing
Is as it seems
Exactly
As it should be

In our natural state
Wild
Untamed
Pure Energy

As all things living are
As was meant to be

Practical Magic – Pest Potion

7 July 2009

essential_oils

I don’t know what the mosquitoes are like in your part of the world, but in mine, they feast on human blood the moment you step out the door and are so big they could almost carry you away!

I loathe insect repellent because of the way it smells and what it does to my skin, and so summertime picnics and oyster roasts are typically held to a minimum. However, I have found a less invasive solution to the pesky pest problem that’s most definitely worth concocting.

Mix equal parts of apple cider and witch hazel then add a few drops of eucalyptus oil and viola…instant insect repellant!

Smells great, is good on the skin and works like a charm…

Apple cider is now available year round in most supermarkets. The witch hazel and eucalyptus oil can be found at your corner Walgreens. While they now carry a full array of essential oils, they tend to keep them hidden at the back of the store on the end of the isle, as if taboo, so don’t give up the search if it doesn’t happen to be on a central display.

And for those of you who might not know, witch hazel makes an excellent facial astringent, works wonders on sunburns and is great for scrapes and scratches. Eucalyptus oil is an effective analgesic and a common ingredient used to relieve muscle, nerve and joint pain. Take care though not to use too much of the oil, as it can potentially irritate the skin if not used with massage oil.

It’s also great to alleviate exhaustion and mental sluggishness. A few drops of a blend of eucalyptus and massage oils have a cooling and stimulating effect on the mind as well as the body. Two must haves for every medicine chest!

Happy concocting…
